Today marks the last day of fun and games. Because the finals are coming... in 5 weeks' time (for most people)!

Janice and I came up with lame quotes everytime, and our quote of the week is... 'Dig my ears!' Which is supposed to sound like 'Kiss my a**'. Lame to some of you guys out there but too funny for the 2 of us. We were laughing like hyenas in Golden Harvest. A friend of mine was working there that day and she was saying, 'you 2 ah, so noisy! The whole restaurant can hear you!' Haha. Oops. Drunk by... Bubble tea? ROFL. Luckily there weren't too many people in the restaurant, but I think the customers on the table next to ours thought we were nuts.

I don't know why, but the 2 of us have always been like that since forever! I do accept the differences in us during the process of growing up, but we never failed to make each other happy. She laughs at everything I say, and I'm always comforted by her whenever I feel down (even though she says she isn't a good counsellor). No Jan, you're A counsellor, and a good one. (: Thank you Lord for my sister.Neoprint of us when we were muchhh younger. Lol.

And it has been decided! Janice and I are going to Sydney after our exams! Yahoo! Something we have been looking forward to since the start of the year! My cousin Tuck, I mean, Teck Guan, may be meeting us there. Pray that he will get a seat on the day we are leaving Sydney! Students go home around that time of the year, so it is really hard to change flights too. I really hope he can stay and bring us around, or else the 2 of us will be shopping only. Haha. My cousin Wei (aka Jac) may also be joining us! This is SO exciting!! Wei went to Japan with us just a year ago! We had uber fun! Another cousin trip for us yet again... Teehee. Not sure if Ning can join us. She's busy flying around in SQ. Woohoo. Go Ning! (: My cousins are so precious to me. Just because they rock my world. :P

Ben and I celebrated our 2.5 year anniversary just yesterday. (: Didn't take any photos because we forgot that we had a camera. But we will remember this day, right? Haha. We had dinner at Huntman Steakhouse and it was awesome! Caught Lady In The Water at Hoyts too. Well, the show is okay, but a tad too fairytale-ish. The story is good for me and all kids below 12. A movie that will make you feel good because it has a good ending, but not a kind of movie which makes you go WOW! after its screening. So, there you go. A review of a movie I watched. Haha.

Steve Irwin? Who?

Was chatting on MSN with Meiyi last night when I noticed her nick:

So I asked her who Steve Irwin was. She told me he was a zoologist from Australia who was stung by a stingray and died.

I haven't been watching too much of Animal Planet after moving to New Zealand, so I didn't think much of who Steve Irwin is. Besides, I thought being an animal lover she is, Mei Yi would know more zoologists than I do.

However, when I went into AsiaOne to read some news reports this morning, I realised who Steve Irwin was.

I was gutted. I was speechless. I never thought that Steve Irwin was the all famous Crocodile Hunter. I never knew that Steve Irwin was the crazy guy who loved crocodiles. I never knew that Steve Irwin was the man who had his family with him while he 'hunts'.

I never knew that Steve Irwin was the zoologist who died. Until today.

When Janice (my sis) and I were still in Singapore, we would occasionally switch to Animal Planet when the other channels got too boring. We would be watching Steve Irwin's show about 7 out of 10 times everytime we switch to that channel. Nevertheless, I can say that we love watching the show. We just love commenting how crazy he was. When we say crazy, we don't mean mentally unstable, need to go to Woodbridge, but more like HE'S GONE OUT OF HIS MIND!!! ISN'T HE AFRAID THAT THE CROCS WOULD JUST GOBBLE HIM UP?

We would be shrieking and covering our eyes at times as Steve Irwin 'plays' with the wild animals. To us, especially Janice, he was a REAL man. A man with a lion heart. Or should we say a crocodile heart. Don't even go there, Jess. -.-

I doubt Janice knows that her croc idol died in a freak accident, but I guess I would tell her when she comes back home in about an hours' time. All I can say is, life is vulnerable. Just one sting, and Steve Irwin lost his life.

But is all lost? Is this all? What happens after we die? Ponder about it.

My Flat's Kitchen.

You know, the kitchen of my flat is such a happening place there I doubt there's any kitchen in Dunedin that's as interesting as mine.

Looks like an ordinary kitchen to me. But you don't know what happens in this little kitchen of ours. You can categorize the incidents that happen in there in 2 groups: GOOD and BAD.

Let's just start with the BAD then.

Incident #1:

Here's the scenario. Sis and I cooking dinner. Flatmates #1 and #2 comes in to cook too. Stove has 4.. Erm.. Let's just call them heating elements. So we were using the bottom left hand one. Was cooking sweet and sour pork that night, so left a plate on the bottom right element which wasn't on. Flatmate #1 wants to use top right one, so switches it on. After a long while, I realised the kitchen towel used to soak up the oil for my pork pieces on the plate was turning black in the middle. I thought to myself, "Hmm, what's happening?" and immediately realised that THAT heating element was switched on!!!

I said, "Er, I think you guys switched on the wrong..." But before I could finish what I wanted to say, the plate FLEW towards us!!! IN BITS AND PIECES!!! Our pork pieces were flying too, and the kitchen towel, soaked with oil, landed on the stove and lighted up!!!! Flatmate #1, my sis and I just starred at the flame not knowing what to do, and flatmate #2 (male) quickly took the towel up and threw it into the sink. Thank God no one was hurt. Thank God Janice was wearing my furry pink slippers, or else her foot would've been cut by a huge piece of the plate.

The bad thing was: We lost some of our pork pieces, and my pink furry slippers died cos the piece of the plate was so hot it stuck to the slipper. SO I tried to pull it out and the pink cloth came off together with the piece of plate. ): Oh well... Too bad I didn't take any photos... I was too shocked I guess.

Hmm. I think I'll just leave the BAD incidents there, or else all of you will get a heart attack. Haha. But... Another bad thing that can happen in my kitchen is... BAD FOOD. Take a look at this:

Who bakes such fugly muffins?! Tell me tell me tell me. Do you even know those are MUFFINS?

It's a disaster, I tell you! I was pouring the mixture into each muffin cup and tried not to have too much in every single one of them, so I could avoid something like this to happen. But apparently it was still too much. So this happened. Crap.

Even after some 'decorations' done to those pathetic looking muffins, they still look... Pathetic. But hey, we shouldn't look at things on the outside, right? They actually taste quite good. YUM, hundreds and thousands chocolate muffins!

On the other hand, 1 GOOD thing happened in my kitchen today. HX and I baked cream puffs and it was a success!!! How excited can I get?

The Sian-ed Night.

It's a quiet Wednesday night at 11:45pm, and here I am blogging.

Just got back from Central Library after an intense 3hour mugging with Nadie nad nad. We were studying for Metabolism 2. Hmm... I intended to study till about 1am before I plop onto my bed, but I'll see how things go.

I had a bout of break down just last night. I was flipping over pages of my thick Metabolism booklet, thinking of what I should study for the 2nd test while chatting with 2 of my friends. One of them was Thazin, and I was (as usual) complaining to her how sian I am because of this module. And she had to add that Eifer (minus poor me) was going out for dinner that night. At that moment my heart just... dropped. I was ultra sian. My 6 other pretty girls out without me, for the trillionth time. No, it isn't their fault that they left me out, but it's just because I am a 10hour flight away from them, 4 hours ahead of them.

I never regretted coming to New Zealand to study, because I managed to get into the course I desired and there's nothing more I can ask of. When I was 16, my mum asked me if I was ready to come to NZ to further my studies (right after my O's). I wasn't, and I rejected her offer, simply because I couldn't bear leave all my friends back in Singapore. So I proceeded to ACJC when I played my year through (what a retard). SO, eventually, I had to come to NZ after wasting a year of my life in JC (of course I haven't forgotten the good friends I met in AC. (:)

Friends. They are such a big part in my life that I even rejected my mum's offer to go to somewhere with wider range of courses I can choose from.

Now you see why I felt terrible after Thazin told me they were going out for dinner together. Eifer has never disappointed me in any way, and even though Thazin and I aren't in Singapore most of the time, they will always imagine the 2 of us there. Not until they start talking to space, duh. But, you get what I mean. Even without me, I always hope they will enjoy their time together and just have fun! One thing I always look forward to when I fly back to Singapore is to be Eifer-ed. LOL. Damn, I sound so lesbian out of a sudden. But you see, that's friendship!

Oh, back to my sian-ness that night. After Thazin told me they were going out for dinner, another friend of mine (a male) who is on my MSN list but hasn't spoken to me since decades ago messaged me out of the blue! What I thought was, "Wow, what made him come talk to me after such a long time?" I was quite happy cos it would be cool to have a friend whom I haven't spoken to for such a long time speaking to me again. So Mr. W started with a hey, so I hey-ed back. Okay, quite normal. Then, he abruptly asked "do you know this girl called Miss T? Can you intro her to me?"

!!!!!

Guess what sian-ed I was. Gees! Fancy him being a 20 years old dude and using this kind of technique to know girls. Arh!! No matter what, the MAIN problem was, he made me the sian-est person on Earth at that point. 3 things made me so sian back to back.

So I went looking for the boyfriend and cried my heart out. I think my hormone levels were swinging up and down too. I doubt I'd react so strongly if it wasn't for this to be happening at the same time. So this morning, if those of you who saw me with swollen eyelids: Yes, I did cry, but not because I broke up with my boyfriend, thank you very much.

2 days to hols! No, let's say it's a day to my 2 weeks holidays!!!!!!!! :D:D:D But before that, Metabolism 2. bsssh.

Busiest Weekend of my LIFE

Fridayyy. (: I don't know why this word just sounds so.. pleasant. Haha.

Am slacking in Med Library for lunch time when the rest of them comes. This week's been busybusybusy.

• Had to hand in my Genetics report on Thursday. I rushed like crazy on Monday. Ben and Thazin proof read my report. Thanks guys! :D

• While Thazin was proof reading my report, we were talking via MSN phone and coincidentally, NDP (it was National Day!) was on TV. So she switched the TV on super loud so I could have a teeny bit of the National Day spirit. I can see that Thazin's one PATRIOTIC chic cos' she was singing the National anthem and saying the National pledge. Lol. Anyhow, I had fun chatting/listening to her sing for 2 whole hours. We need more of these sessions! For the rest of Eifer, we can conference in future! Maybe via MSN phone or even Skype! Go download!!

• Metabolism 1 computer test was crazzzzzy. I managed to pass by 1%. THANK GOD.

The weekend for me is gonna be even crazier! I've got choir practice, evangelism class, SingHealth seminar, National Day potluck session, Elim Church's Outreach Nite and 2 of my friends' birthdays (plus church service which isn't counted cos' it's been a routine.) ALL SQUASHED IN A WEEKEND. I'm so stressed out because I have 2 tests and 2 presentations coming up this week! -takes a deep breath in-

Looks like I need to sleep for less than 8 hours every night to study. ): I need at least 7 hours of sleep every night, or else no one can see my eyes, because my dark circles and eye bags will combine powers and make my eyes super small. -.- Now that's a life of a med student. zzz.

No updates recently, because I'm super duper uber busy!!!

Weather's been aweeesome in Dunedin! Sunny like it should be! It's winter and I still feel the chills, but the sunshine just makes everyone's day (except for my mother if she's here)! Whaha.

I was watching C4 channel on the telly a few days back, and there was a programme on gay singers and bands. And YMCA MTV was played! Hahaha. I was laughing my butt off while watching it. It must be more than 20 years old!! No discrimination against gay people though. They're just hilarious.

Leopard? Or not?

I think, I'm now slightly inclined to the saying 'a leopard never changes its spots'.

Yes, a person can change when he/she wants to. If the person is not serious in changing, he/she reveals his true self again.

Recently I'm just really really disappointed with a certain person. Going back to her old environment reverts her old personality. I don't know if her nick means this way, but it's just sad to even read it. And yes, she probably thinks it is MY fault that she is feeling sick about NOT sinning.

I am indeed very happy to know that many of us have got to know about God. It is a blessing to even hear anything about him. Of course, anything good.

Speaking of this certain person, I pray that she will think hard on what she has been doing, if she thinks it is good for herself. Even if we're not talking about religions here, she should well know that some actions she make see responsibilities coming her way.

I may sound like a mum to her, I know that to her, I can be like an eagle circling a deer who is about to be eaten. But I know that it is for her own good, and not restricting her from doing what she likes. Even though I'm disappointed in her, I know I still love her.

I feel all better typing all of these out. I struggle inside me if I don't talk about this with anyone. What a way to start the 1st day of school.

I have confidence that one day I will believe that everyone CAN change.

Cold and windy in Wellington right now. It's been this way for almost 3 days... Getting blown away ain't fun!!!

How I wish I were back in Dunedin, in my flat along Great King, in my room number 4, snuggled in my bed wrapped in the pretty pink polar fleece blankie I got for my birthday (thanks Hooi Xian, Josh, Kar Wai and Larence!), drinking Milo... AWWWWWWWWW!!!!!! Gees. I'm daydreaming so early in the day. Whaha.

ECC has been great. Visited different places, oragnisations, support groups, home visits etc. I think I have really learnt so much from this trip. Tomorrow's the last day! Whoopeee!

Wellington itself is wonderful. Big, windy (yeah), chilly city right now. Mmhmm, talked about it earlier in the post but I shall emphasise how cold it is. I'm wrapped up with scarf, gloves, beanie, thick jacket with almost 3 layers of clothes underneath. Oh gosh. I sound so... RICE DUMPLING (=ba4 zhang3). LOL. Anyway! I just had ba zhang this morning for breakfast! Whaha. All thanks for ZW's dad and uncle. Oh, and for the first time in history, I had DURIAN in NZ!! Freshhh!!! OH MANNN. It was all gooood. :P Okay, now I sound like a glutton, but yeah I think I am abit aye? LOL. In a few hours time, I'd be listening to people from the Overeaters Anonymous. I reckon I should just join the group. Be a part of them aye? OK, that is so lame Jess.

AFTER EXAMS

Mooloo mooloo. Ok, great. Now that my exams are over and done with, I can finally surf the net in peace and blog about anything in the world, with no time restriction and telling myself 'oh man i need to study' and questioning myself 'why am i surfing the net?'

Yeah, it's good and all. BUT (yeah, there is always a but that spoils the day) exams didn't go all too well. I wasn't fully prepared, I was freaking out, the paper was tough. Period. Needless to say more.

All's done and gone. So I should just forget about it and concentrate on my other 3 computer tests coming up next semester. But in the meantime........

This page took sucha long time to load!!! The same amount of time as me reading finish a set of notes. Our 20Gb usage has been used up, so we're now surfing at 64kbps, which, when divided by 4, becomes 16kbps PER person. So... yeah yeah, laugh at my wols internet. (if you don't know what wols is, you sure are wols. haha. just kidding. it's just 'slow' spelt backwards. okok, i'm the lame one) Someone's been downloading so much! This is my first time touching my lovely laptop since a week ago!

So. I am, or rather, was reading my Blood module notes(which are driving me nuts cos' I'm nowhere close to finishing). I'm. Screwed. How to finish studyingggg... ): And I don't know why students from other courses think that we med students don't have mid year exam. We do!!!! But yes, it isn't counted in finals, which is a BAD thing, at least for me. And if we fail this mid year exam, we have to see the DEAN and get TUTORIALS and sit the exam AGAIN. So I still have to study for the exams.

Exam bluessss. I thought I was going to get a breakdown soon (so I don't have to sit the exam), but no, God wants me to study like everyone else! THIS IS AN OBSTACLE I MUST OVERCOME! Come to think of it, exams do take up so much of our time. We have exams and tests so often. Try counting how many tests and exams you've taken. I'm sure it's more than 100 (if you're as old as me. yes, i'm 20 this year). EH, 听写 and Spelling tests are counted, okay!!! So if we have spelling and 听写 almost every week back in primary school, that makes it 2 tests a week. Let's say we have X weeks of 听写 and spelling. Okay, I realised that I can't be bothered to count exactly how many tests I've sat, but you know what I'm talking about. BUT THE POINT IS, EXAMS ARE DREADFUL. THEY MAKE MY LIFE MISERABLE. Sigh. I still have to study.... Rat race on Tuesday! Need to go to the Anatomy Museum tomorrow morning to look at those models and try to spot what questions are coming out. Mid year exam on Thursday, which consists of 2 bloody long modules - Blood and MSK. I'm screwedddd.

Blabbers complaints grumbling sighing moaning shrieking crying snoring are sounds that can be made by me during exam periods. Call me human. Oh wait. Strike snoring out. I don't snore. unless I'm really superbly extremely ridiculously tired. Period.

A requirement for Med 2 is taking a Mantoux test. Remember those jabs we took back when we were in Primary 6? The 1st jab on our arm which determines whether or not we have to take the BCG jab? Yeah. I took it on Tuesday and the nurses are supposed to have a look at my reaction to the antigen. And there IS a reaction! The reddish patch is quite big, and it got itchier yesterday. I don't know if it's a good thing or not, but I hope it is. As Wikipedia states,


A standard dose of 10 Tuberculin units (0.2 ml) is injected intradermally (into the skin) and read 48 to 72 hours later. A person who has been exposed to the bacteria is expected to mount an immune response in the skin containing the bacterial proteins.

The reaction is read by measuring the diameter of induration (palpable raised hardened area) across the forearm (perpendicular to the long axis) in millimeters. No induration should be recorded as "0 mm". Erythema (redness) should not be measured.


Okay, so yup, the patch on my forearm is hard, and I've got erythema! Maybe I'm immuned to TB after all. Haha. Well, of course I am immuned! I obediently took my BCG jab when I was 12! After histology lab I'll have to pay a visit to the nurses to look at my gross forearm. Hope it's fine. The bigger the induration is, the better. But at the same time, it can't be too big. Mine's quite big. Definitely more than 10mm.

I still remember those 'tips' we hear from our seniors back in Primary School on how to escape the BCG jab.

• Whack your forearm like mad until it turns really red. The diameter of the patch will get larger.

• Eat seafood and it'll get bigger!

I had seafood for 2 days, and my patch got much bigger when I had fishballs on Wednesday. Janice thinks that it's because of the seafood I had that made that area for itchy. Oh well, everything will be told to me in an hour and a half anyway. I'm getting all fidgety and all. And I've taken BCG. Geeeeees.

During yesterday's Comm Skills tutorial, I presented my interview to the whole class, after all the cant-bear-to-look-at-myself and oh-gosh-i-sound-like-a-retarded mentality. Something I thought I can improve on - Asking more open questions so the patient can tell me more about his/her condition. Other than that, while transcribing my interview by hand, I realised that asking questions without stuttering is NOT easy. Oh oh oh! And I've counted 30 'um'-s in my 5 minute interview! -.-

Having been here (NZ) for almost 3 years hasn't exactly changed my accent. And I've been having a little bit of difficulty trying to form sentences with perfect English, especially if I speak with the locals here. Okay, maybe only when I was filming my interview. I'm could be really nervous then. Haha. It's true that I speak English rather than Mandarin (my mother tongue) at home, but I guess the English I'm referring to is actually Singlish. Looks like I've got to stop speaking in Singlish for awhile, or else my interview with my patients will sound super stupid.

This morning I was browsing through Wikipedia in search of the Mantoux test and suddenly thought if I could find anything on Singlish. Haha. And YES! And there's a really looong article about it. Gees.

Go have a look. I was laughing while reading about it. I doubt most Singaporeans ever realised that we structure sentences very differently as compared to the rest of the world. Imagine how they will understand us. Imagine how my patient will understand ME.

Mummy and Jonathan's coming over in 8 days' time!! I've been counting down since a month ago, and the day is drawing near. But I wonder what Jonathan would do when he's here. And my mum too. Janice and I will still be studying our butts off for our mid year. Hmm. Let me ponder about this for awhile.

Oh man! Great great news!! My friends from Stream B just came out of their histology lab! (their lab's an hour before Stream A. And I'm in Stream A) That's only 20 minutes of lab! Sweet as. My weekend is gonna start earlier than expected. Yahoooo!

Trust. Lead not on your own understanding.

There always is a time when stress level gets higher and higher, until there's no way you can breathe. Breathe, breathe, breathe.

Honestly, I don't know if I'm coping well in my course. Computer tests are a dread to me, even though they're there to help us understand our modules. I just can't get used to answering questions without a paper and a pen. It's just... Weird. And I never ever do well for any of my computer tests. People in my class are definitely not as stressed and as uptight as Miss Cheung here.

Sigh. Maybe I'm just too stupid. Someone get me outta this pit. I feel like the stupidest person on earth, and the stress-est person in the universe. Nothing is going right. I pray hard everyday and night for my family, my friends, thanking the Lord for everything. Maybe God just wants me to study harder and understand my modules better, before even attempting the tests.

No matter what, He's always with me. Rely on Him, because He's great. I recommend Him to you.

Oh gosh. It's been almost a week since the big day was over. Is this a good or bad thing?

So they went about setting up their webcams and microphones. Jessica clicked on the Video Conversation and then she saw this.

BWHAHAHA. It's funny! Qi cannot see Jessica, but she can hear her voice, while Jessica could see Qi, but cannot hear her! This makes Qi a blind person, and Jessica a deaf person.

Cos Qi couldn't see Jessica, she was furious! She went ROAR!

After realising it was useless to get furious, she stopped roaring. But after she stopped roaring, she became MAD.

Qi had a really great idea and decided to edit the MSN man to Jessica, so it would resemble more of Jessica, instead of a pot of green lard.

Jessica: 'WONDERFUL CREATIVITY, I LIKE IT!' I give it 99.9%. The 0.1% was lost to the big tummy of Mr. MSN man. But I still like the image of a sexy bikini MSN girl. Great job!

Boredom is definitely driving me nuts. But I want to thank Qi for giving me such an interesting MSN chat! It was really fun right? We should do this more often, and we can cook up more cock and bull stories.

Walking In The Rain - A1

Booboo.

It's raining cats and dogs AGAIN. Sometimes I thank the Lord for the rain, cos' I can sleep in and my sleep would be a better one. But rain always makes me feel depressed. Don't ask me why, cos I don't know either.

When I was lil' Jessica, I always thought that it'd rain when someone in this world is crying, and the rain would stop if that person stops crying. For sure, I know now that it isn't true after all. But it seemed so real, cos' there was really a time when I cried and it started raining, and the rain stopped when I stopped. That's the most amazing thing ever. But, oh well, now I'm no longer in some fairy tale life, the reality is that rain is actually part of the water cycle. Boo. How boring is that?

Surely, there will be someone in this world crying at this instant. He/she could be crying cos' he/she ran first in her annual school marathon, he/she could be crying cos' he/she has lost a loved one, or he/she could be crying because it's raining. -.- Okay, that's highly improbable.

People always describe rain as a depressing event, like a down in your life, but after the rain, the rainbow comes out, and life seems to be better - the up in your life. Why don't we look at rain as a good thing? After all, rain is also created by God. Somewhere in this world, a little town may be in need for water, cos' it hasn't been raining for ages, and they're all thirsty and dehydrated. Rain can actually save their lives, to replenish them so they can work in the fields again. Rain water can be reused to water our plants. Rain can make a city go all so romantic. (hur hur hur) Rain can make Singapore cooler. Rain can turn into snow if it's really cold, so kids can play and have fun (excludes getting sick). After the rain, there's a pretty rainbow.

Wow, so rain isn't a bad thing after all. I think I need to change my perspective of rain now. Something I've learnt after typing this post out - I need to write things down so I can ponder long about them. Do give yourselves time to think of stuff. Not nonsensical stuff, that is.

Today's a public holiday (ANZAC DAY), so everyone in NZ is great (except for those who's got presentations and assignments to hand in tmr!)! So buy some poppies people! Haha. Speaking of public holidays, does anyone know if it's a public holiday, is it ILLEGAL to open your store and continue business on that day?

Take the Easter weekend for example. Many Kiwis have to stock up food in their pantry for the long weekend, since most shops are closed on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and maybe Easter Monday. Shops DO include supermarkets! However, on both Good Friday and Easter Sunday, we had our dinner @ Asian Restaurant, which shows that it isn't at all illegal to be open for business on a public holiday. Otherwise some funny police would storm into the shop and demand the lady boss to close her shop. Come to think of it, it would be very funny.

Funny Policeman: HEY MRS LADY BOSS, you aren't supposed to be open for business today! What are you doing serving food to these lazy students who can't be bothered to cook at home?!

Lady Boss: Oh oh oh, I'm sorry Funny Policeman, but these students need to have their food, or they'll starve tonight!

Funny Policaman: No, it's an absolute NO! You have to close for the day now.

Lady Boss: Since it's already 830pm, why don't you wait till 930pm when we close? You can stay here while I give you some chow mein. FOC, Sir!

Funny Policeman: Hmm, that doesn't sound like a bad idea. Okay, then! Bring in the crispy chicken chow mein!

OH MAN, I'm getting lamer and lamer by the day.

But other than the restaurant we ate at, most shops are closed, including other resturants. Hmm. And there weren't many customers @ Asian Restaurant as well. This still baffles me. Haha.

I've still got a week of holiday to relax and study (hur hur hur). Yesterday has been wasted on DOTA. Oh man, seriously, that thing is addictive! So if you haven't started on that game, please don't even think about playing it. It hooks and clings on you for a long time. WHAHAHA. I don't know about you guys, but I'm kinda addicted to it, even though I'm really bad at Dota. Hmm.

At the computer lab. We had almost 10 people playing together last night, and all are from our church. HAHA. We've been dota-ing like mad since coming back from church camp. Awww, church camp.. I miss it so much now. Anyway, 8 of us started playing first. It was girls vs guys (4 v 4). Our team (the girls team, of course!) actually had only 3 girls, then Joshua changed his name to Hooi Xian and pretended to be a girl. ROFL. But he's the Dota pro after all, so after all the rage and killing and pawning and whatever, the girls' team WON!!!! LOL. Ben was actually next to me, and I pawned on him first! Ben said, 'THAT'S IT, JESS.' and we kept killing and attacking each other. Seriously, this game does affect your relationship with your friends, especially if you're on different teams. So I would say to Ben, 'OK, so I've killed you once, now you can come and try to take my head.' Doesn't sound fun anymore right? But if we don't do that, he'll start complaining 'JESS WHY YOU KILL ME AGAIN...'. BWAHAHAHA. I stopped playing after 2 rounds of Dota (ONLY), before I started to surf the net and dozed off with my head on the table.

I think I'm really bad at keeping myself awake through the whole night. I don't know how you guys do it, but if I actually DID stay up through the night, I'd already be on my bed before 7am. No kidding! And if I don't have anything interesting things to do, I'd fall asleep before 3am. These timings are like fixed into my life. Imagine.

Jessica can sleep at most 13 hours. Jessica has to sleep at least 5.5 hours. Jessica cannot stay awake for more than 24 hours. etc..

Okay, back to last night. The rest of them continued playing while I was slipping into my dream after the 2nd game. Ben had to send me home before rushing back to continue playing. I felt abit booboo-ed, cos I can't stay awake!! ): Oh well, nevermind. I guess it isn't just me who can't stay awake. Maybe computer games are not my things after all, if you compare it to shopping, singing, dancing etc. YEH!

ASEAN Cultural Night will be held on 29th April 2006 at Castle 1, Otago Uni students! Please come and support ME!!! I mean, please come and support US!!! Hahaha. This year's ASEAN Night is co-hosted by the Otago Singapore Club and the Otago Malaysian Students Association. I really hope there would be a good turn out, because the Mayor of Dunedin and the High Commissioner of Singapore stationed at Wellington would be coming down to see this performance. We'll just do our best! Speaking of which, we've only got 4 days to go till the big night! The dance is finally completed! All we gotta do now is to put in my ENERGY and effort. Can't wait!

The 4 days 3 nights camp just came and went so quickly. I already miss staying with all of them... Aww.. Haha. We're well taken care of and had loads of fun. Will get the photos soon and will post them up. DCMC 一极棒 !

Good Friday.

It is Good Friday. The day Jesus died on the cross. That is how great His love is for us. My cell group leader asked me a few hours ago: Why 'good' when Jesus died on the cross? Well, that's because he died for us. I actually want to tell all of you the significance of this day, but I guess I don't have the adequate information and facts. That's because I haven't read much of the Bible (bad me) and tomorrow's church service would officially be the 1st Good Friday service I've been to. I will tell you guys after I get accurate information ok? (:

I've been to the supermarket several times these few weeks, and some of the shelves are decorated with bunny drawings and filled with many different brands of chocolates too. The 'festival' has been so commercialised that people only think of Easter eggs, bunnies and hot cross buns during Easter. It is definitely much more than that, and I'm sure most Christians would know that. I don't mean that I don't buy those Easter eggs, I actually do! My friends also gave some to me. YUMMY. Haha! Too bad I've got a sore throat. So many choc eggs waiting for me to engulf themmm.

I'll obediently stay home tomorrow to reflect and think of the meaning of Good Friday. I want to watch Passion of the Christ again!

So I made up my mind this morning that I won't vomit/faint during my lab today. We've seen prosections cut off from older cadavers during our first 7 labs, and today, we are introduced to REAL cadavers. Yes, the whole fresh body. And what are we gonna do with them? DISSECT THEM, of course!

Since there is a limited number of cadavers for all the students, we've got our cadavers with their skull sawn and brains taken out. So, if you see them at the head region, you'll only see a hollow ball thingy there. Eyes have been dug out, but other than that, everything's intact.

I thought there'd be people fainting during the dissection itself, but I was left disappointed! So our batch is one strong and brave batch! But I think there was this girl who cried even before dissection started. Hmmm.

The cadaver that my group had was a huge man. He died of a stroke, probably due to the huge amount of fats he's got in that body of his. We had to flip him over such that his back is facing us. Since the body's lost quite abit of water, and this man was quite old, his whole back was flattened, so it looked kinda gross...

We had to cut the gluteal region (buttocks) to see the major muscles and nerves, and damn, this guy's got real lots of fats oozing outta his butt. We also dissected the back of the knee to look for tendons and nerves and muscles, and luckily it wasn't as fatty at that region. The whole 2 hours of dissection past sooooo slowly I couldn't wait to leave the dissection room! We could smell the chemicals put in the cadavers and it was just unbearable.

And no, this is not the end of dissection. I think I've got more dissection sessions after Easter! We're still left with the anterior part of the lower body, and also the back. One of the groups had actually dissected the back, and onestly speaking, it was so cool! I could see the different muscle group and everything! Maybe the student dissected it well. I think I'm bad at dissecting!! I dissected the back of the knee so we could see the inside. I was supposed to slice the skin first, then the next layer which is the subcutaneous tissue (yellowy stuff), then the deep fascia(whitish layer), before we could even see the muscles. I think I was too eager, so I cut straight through the deep fascia and into the muscle! OH MAN.... That was embarrassing. But now I know I've learnt something - ALWAYS BE PATIENT, AND TREAT OTHERS LIKE HOW YOU WANT OTHERS TO TREAT YOU. Oh yeah, I wouldn't want someone cutting straight into my muscles! Whaha.

Although this sounds like a really bad experience, I've learnt abit from this lab, and there will be more of the same kinda labs in later years.

How come I feel like I don't wanna do this again... No, I cannot look at it this way. I must strive and do my best in every lab. Oh yeah.

Week before Easter.

The weeks seem to be passing on by so quickly. It'll be Easter week for NZ from Friday onwards. I've been waiting for Easter since foreverrr. I'd be getting 2 weeks of no lectures and tutorials till 1st May. I really need this break terribly, to catch up on my sleep and also on my studies.

This week hasn't been all too good. Flu's attacked me from the back and my throat is sore. My nose is runny and all I want to do is sleep. I think the deprivation of sleep is a secondary cause of my sickness. There was a day (i think it was thursday) when I went to Ben's place for lunch, and right after lunch I slept!!! Ya, I sound like a pig right.. So I skipped 3 lectures in the afternoon, adding up to 3 hours. So this means I pon-ed school for 3 whole hours ever since I left ACJC. Despite the guilt, I couldn't help it. I seriously needed that rest.

And yesterday, my left eye was soooo painful I really thought I was going blind. My flatmate checked me up and said he's gotten it alot of times, and he taught me a way of reducing the pain. He had me placing a hot towel over my left eye for a minute or so, doing the same thing for a few times. It really did work!! Thank GOD. I wasn't gonna get blind! LOL. It should be me straining of eye too much. I played pool in the afternoon so he joked that I was aiming too hard on the pool ball until my eye muscles were strained. HAHAHA. Super funny.

What I'd be doing for Easter? We've got a 4 days 3 night church camp!!! I'm definitely looking forward to that. And I wanna go up to Christchurch for some shopping!! Nothing's confirmed yet, but hopefully I can. Hee.
