My favourit-est WAN TON MEE.

Hungry Janice at the background

Last night we picked up Janice from work as she ended at 11pm (SUPER LATE!). Poor her was hungry and suggested we go have supper. Yeah, very bad for my body but I don't care, because we were going to my favourit-est WAN TON MEE store! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!

I've been eating wan ton mee from this store since forever! The tiny store is situated just opposite my Ah Ma's place at Lorong 25A Geylang, so we always had wan ton mee for breakfast almost every morning. Surprisingly, the uncle remembered my mum and I, and also recalled me being a little girl (AWWW!) tagging along with my Ah Ma to get some wan ton mee for breakfast! They used to open really early in the morning, but maybe because business is better at night, they now open only after 10pm and closes at 6am.

The soup is UBER good. Till now, I haven't tasted any other yummier wan ton soup! Even though the price of each plate of wan ton mee has gone up to $3, quality still as good. YUM!

I took a candid shot of Janice having a huge mouthful of wan ton mee, and she told me to stuff my mouth too, so there you go! Not so candid after all, just lame. LOL.

I heart the wan ton mee store outside my ah ma's house!

THIS RAIN.

It's been raining non-stop for (I think) the past 2 weeks! It's unbelievable!! Where did the clouds come from?

Cloudy..

While I'm out, never once did I fail to stick my feet into a puddle deep enough to get my whole foot submerged into MUD/RAINWATER. Then I'd give a shriek-y 'ahh!' after that. My brother's too familiar with that. :S

I'm not like this guy lah, happily stepping into every puddle...

I don't know how many times I've complained about how rain dampens my mood, but it's true LOH. Moreover, THIS rain has indeed caused alot of trouble and damage to Singapore and other neighbouring countries.

People would recall that a week ago, the florists along Thomson Road were flooded cos they were on low grounds, and one of the workers found a koi swimming around in rain water. How cool was that? Haha! I saw the koi on TV too! But I heard it went missing again. Then on yesterday's news, the construction of a new car park was affected as all those excavators engulfed by the flood caused by the heavy downpour. The whole construction site was just so muddy they couldn't even continue with the building! Plus a house got one of its walls collapsing and had the whole family and immediate neighbours to evacuate out of their own houses.

I know for many neighbouring countries like Malaysia, there were casualties and hundreds evacuated from their homes. Do you call the flooding this monsoon season a natural disaster? My mum told me that it's been awhile since the monsoon season had so much rainfall. She vividly remembers her primary school days when it used to rain like that almost every December, but stopped until it returned again this year. I can't even imagine how much damage Singapore would have to suffer from back in those days. Scary, but at the same time, feeling safe and thankful because we're now living in the present.

Dark clouds..

What's been going on with my life this monsoon season? Well, basically despite the rain, I still go out almost everyday, as per normal. Haha. I was hoping that ABC hospital would call me anytime soon to start work, but obviously it didn't. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THAT LITTLE LIGHT OF HOPE that I'd get the job, THEN THROWING ME DOWN INTO A DEEP PIT and asking me to wait for a response from the HR. It's been 3 weeks since I applied for that job, and I just feel like... ROAR! A lion. HAHA. Lame. I don't get it!! Even if they don't need me for the job, can't they just CALL? Just push 8 numbers and apologize! Isn't that simple! I'm kinda in limbo right now, and I feel like some kind of lazy bummer shopping and slacking her holidays. Aiyah, it's useless complaining. Anyway I have something more meaningful to do this summer holiday. lalala.

Clouds, blow your way to other places can? No no, or you'd affect other countries. Erm, why don't you just disappear! You guys have done your job well, yah, the rain and all, so... Congratulations! You've accomplished your mission, so just disappear my fluffy lil' clouds! Give us a clear blue sky again! You also caused my internet to slow down and disallowed me to blog and surf and MSN. Internet flight bookings were also affected because of your rain... ):

I'll wait for you, rainbow!

Today, I see sunlight, but will it last? Because I still see you guys hanging around, and can just start pouring rain down on us again. Shall I sing a song to make you happy? How does Rain, rain go away sound to you? Boring? Crappers. I know I can chase you guys away with my terrible voice, but it's a pity I don't have any songs about rain to sing to you. So I and the people of SEA shall just wait for you to vanish. Soon. Enough. I want to see rainbows and sunlight!

Today's forecast. THANKS AH!

Sydney Trip Part 2

Haha. Yes! I'm finally back with the 2nd part of my Sydney trip.. I know it's been awhile. ;)

So let's start with Day 4!

DAY 4

Mum managed to get us into a tour which would bring us to many tourist attractions in Sydney. And our 1st stop was the Olympic Park!

The Telstra Stadium

Even though the Olympics in Sydney was ages ago, the Olympic Park is used by many staying around that area for regular jogging and exercising. The place still looks decent and very clean. It's no wonder why people love coming here!

HAHA. Me being lame. Anyway, Bonds is a good undies brand, I must say!

Peekaboo with my brother

It's a pity we didn't manage to go INTO the stadium itself to have a look. We spent of a total of maybe half an hour there before moving on to our next destination (ALOT more to see!)

The Sydney Olympics torch!

Random shot of Janice secretly enjoying a piece if biscuit. HAHA. No food on bus, you see. :X

The next stop was Featherdale Wildlife Park! Jon's favourite. Haha. Upon arriving, we were suprisingly welcomed by a baby kangaroo along with its keeper. It's soo adorable! Too bad we couldn't hold it.. Aww.

When we went into the park, we saw a zoo keeper with a tree snake in his hands! Crazy Janice decided to dare me AGAIN and asked me to carry that snake and take a photo with it. OF COURSE I did it lah. It was nothing. Besides, snake skin is cool and nice to touch, and I needed to cool down because of the hot weather.

Me with my XXXL face and the slimy tree snake. NICE!

Feeding a kangaROO!

Oh! My favourite part of the visit to the wildlife park was the stamping of Featherdale Wildlife Park's PASSPORT! Hahahaha. It's a cute way to move around the park and visiting all the animals in there. You see, there would be this stamping station at different sections of the park. So if you've seen the koala, then there'd be a stamping station at that area, and you'll stamp a koala stamp on your passport! How fun. ROFL.

Stamp stamp stamp!

Off to the next destination - Echo Point!

Jon's free kiddy gift from the wildlife park. Now it belongs to the bus.

From Echo Point, we were able to see the all famous Three Sisters! Yeah, they're actually just 3 huge rocks. As the tour guide said, "Yup, we travelled all the way here just to see these 3 huge rocks." Hur hur.

LOL. See Janice swatting houseflies away from her face. This action is aka the Australian Salute!

Next stop - BLUE MOUNTAINS! We bought the package with 3 scenic travelling, and that includes scenic skyway, scenic railway and scenic walkway. We took the scenic Skyway and I must say that it's SO cool man. Frosted panes at the bottom of the Skyway suddenly becomes CLEAR while we were moving towards the other side of the mountain! The view was AMAZING and we all felt as if we were floating! Hahaha.

With our package, we were also able to take the scenic railway! This railway was originally for the miners to get to the bottom. AND IT IS SOO STEEP! These miners must have a whole load of adrenaline pumping through their body everyday travelling like that. LOL.

I think this ride wasn't even SCENIC lah. We were just screaming all the way down.

During our scenic walk, there was pure natural spring water flowing down this little pipe. Kiasu Jonathan wanted to get more than a sip of the spring water, so he filled his Evian bottle with TRUE natural spring water. Hahaha.

After that, the tour guide brought us to this really cool candy store! I should call it a candy paradise man. LOL. Something like candy Empire in Vivo!!!!! Wah lau, we all became kids again and got so excited. Hahaha.

Hahaha. How interesting. There's even CHOCO-SCOPE. Lame.

Some of the more special candies we got. LOOK! Pink TIM TAMS!!!!!!

In the evening, the cousin brought us to Hurricane's Grill @ Bondi Beach for dinner! Because it is SO ULTRA popular, my cousin only managed to get reservation at freaking 8:30pm lah! We were starving like no one's business. HAHA. This restaurant is absolutely famous for its ribs, so it was a MUST that we try. And trust me, they were thiiiiiiiiiis good. :P

Just like New Zealand, the servings in Australia are super big too. I ate I was filled to the top of my head. Ya, THAT full.

Argh! Just seeing Janice wanting to puke makes me feel nauseous even now.

DAY 5

Sydney is also famous for Krispy Kreme donuts! My cousin was kind enough to get us some for breakfast. Krispy Kreme donuts are just AWESOME! I've never tasted such special sugar topping before. I even wanted to pose with the donuts. Try the original ones. I reckon they're the best. Hehe.

KRISPY KREME!!!!!

While shopping that day, we were distributed iced coffee straw from Mai'a! THIS, everyone, is such a great invention! It's just a straw with little coffee bits and sugar in it. You just have to put the straw into a cup of milk and drink it, and you get iced coffee! The milk flows through those little bits, that's why you get the taste of iced coffee. And it's SO yummy! We took a few back to Singapore, but looks like someone secretly used the rest of the straws. I only had 1... ): I wonder if they can be found in supermarkets in Australia. I hope NZ will bring stocks in real soon! It's damn good man. I don't mind drinking that every morning. Haha.

I must mention about this! This photo shows the diagonal crossing towards QVB!! Janice was just so amazed about diagonal crossing. Her first time, you see. But I must add that this shot is really nice! Everyone crossing in different directions!

Dennis, being the nice guy, decided to be our tour guide for the day! We met him at Queen Victoria Building for some shopping first. Haha. QVB is the BEST shopping mall in Sydney!!! Janice and I went mad. I wanna go back there againnnn!

QVB is a historic building! Even though it's been modernised and renovated, we can still find some really cool historical stuff there, like the lifts and toilets!

Look at the toilet! The tiles on the floor, the window panels and the loo itself! That's the lift on the right.

QVB also has this gigantic clock with incredible designs! According to Dennis, there are little figurines in the clock itself, and they move at certain intervals, and it tells a story! Even though Dennis isn't quite sure about the story, I was EAGER to find out what it was about!

So I wikipedia-ed it and found out that there are 2 clocks in QVB. The
Royal Clock shows scenes of English royalty from King John signing the Magna Carta to the execution of King Charles I. And the other, the Great Australian Clock, shows 33 scenes from Australian history seen from both Aboriginal and European perspectives. 0.O? HAHAHAHA. I'm lost. But the one I saw was the latter. Find out more about QVB here!

The Great Australian Clock.

We also saw some really pretty display of Queen Victoria and her royal... stuff. Haha. Bottom right is a figure of Queen Victoria, wearing her coronation regalia.

SHOPPING!

On the way to the Sydney Opera House, we went to the Customs House library to have a look! See the architecture of the building. Magnificent.

The picture on the right shows the glass floor with a detailed model of Sydney City! It's quite a bad shot though. ):

And finally, the Sydney harbour bridge and the Sydney Opera Houseeee! LALALA~~~ (Like a pro Sopranooooo~~~) Crazy.

Thank you Dennis for your time and effort! We really thank you for the short little tour around Sydney. It's been great having you! (:(:(:

That's all for my Sydney trip! It's nice recalling all the little events that happened during the trip again. (: I will just end this post with a lame photo of Janice and I in the SIA plane (reminded me of Joseph's joke about SIA being his plane, haha!) back to Singapore!
