Mumbo Jumbo Bits.

Finally. The long awaited weekend is finally here. Well, it's not as if I won't be waking up at 730am tomorrow (going to farmers' market tmr!), but just phew, TGIF (Thank God It's Friday).

Janice and I accompanied a new friend of ours to a potluck session @ Clubs and Socs, which was organized by the Overseas Christian Fellowship and Varsity (is that how you spell it?) Christian Fellowship. Got to know some of the people there, and of course, we enjoyed the food! Lol.

You ask me about first week of school? Well, I've got a 9-5 timetable almost everyday this week. Imagine that. Lucky for me, this is gonna ease down a wee bit next week. (: The thing I don't like about this week was the 3 hours non-stop lectures after lunch!!! It's just crazy to stay awake for the whole 3 hours! Plus, Colqohuon Theatre has such comfy 'head rests' and benches that are so nice you just want to close your eyes... Treat the lecturer's voice as a lullaby.. And off you go to dreamaland. Honestly speaking, I think I've dozed off at least 2-3 times a day. No kidding man.

I know it's bad, but sometimes you just can't help it. I mean, the lectures are right after lunch break, your stomach is filled, the lecturers are mumbling away with their oh-so-boring lecture, and oh, the seats. I do feel guilty after I realise I've missed quite abit during the lecture, and now I know NUTS about Pharmacology!!! I'm definitely struggling to understand the lecturer! Well, I don't quite know where he's from, but he's got this funny accent like Ali G! If you've watched any of Ali G's funnily ridiculous shows, he says words like 'saying' as 'say-ing', such that the words are split? So imagine someone saying 'making' as 'make-ing' and other words ending with 'ing' the same way. Okay, I don't think I should call that accent funny, but rather, UNIQUE. But I'm definitely trying way hard to try to get what he's trying to get across to us. Sigh. I should just record his lectures next week onwards. Haha.

How I'm feeling right now? TIRED, SLEEPY, HELPLESS. Helplessness. Sometimes, you think you SHOULD be doing something, but some things just hold you back from doing whatever you have to do. Maybe the word used is wrong. Maybe this is not helplessness. Like... You know something would definitely do harm to your body, and someone's doing it. But somehow, it's not easy going up to the person to tell him/her that he/she is hurting his/her own body, because you don't want to sound like you're naggy and you've got no life. Yeah. You might know how I'm feeling now. So whilst the person is continually doing that thing, I'm just sitting down here doing NOTHING, so... I'm not doing the right thing, am I? Some things are just difficult to voice out. I don't know... I would love to change this person's life, but there seems to be an obstacle. No. ObstacleS. So... People, any suggestions? Help poor Jessica here. Haha.

Oh, and I've got the pictures from my friends! Pictures of the orientation. Hee.

First day of orientation! I love the top I'm wearing. Janice and I got it in Singapore. Whaha. Looks super student-ish.

At Otago Museum Reserve waiting for the bus to bring us to Larnach Castle. (: Nadia! Can you pass me some of the photos you took? Those showing other people's costumes? They're so interesting!

At Larnach Castle.

2nd day of orientation! Me with the international... peace pole thingy and my tidy teddy!

At NZ Army grounds. I love the first photo! Hee.

3rd day of orientation! Treasure hunt. I'm with the orange laces. Hur hur.

I just want to give credit to Nadia and Queenie for the photos! Thanks loads! I owe you 2 a million. No. 2 millions. LOL. Okay, I'm lame.

Off to bed! :D (okay, I think photos make me happy.)

I'll be a specky nerd for awhile.

I shall just copy and paste a newspaper article taken from TodayOnline.

CONTACT lens wearers ? take heed.

There has been a jump in the number of fungal eye infections related to contact lens use, with seven cases reported last month and three this past week alone.

Three patients, aged 20 to 43, have had to undergo urgent corneal transplants to save their sight. Since last May, 22 people have suffered from infections of the cornea, a transparent window covering the eye. The Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) has treated 19 of them.

.
.
.

According to the Ministry, all the patients used disposable soft lenses, and cleaned and stored with them in multi-purpose contact lens solution. All but one of them said they used eye health company Bausch and Lomb's (B&L) ReNu with MoistureLoc solution. The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) is investigating the product.

B&L said that despite the lack of conclusive scientific proof that the solution was responsible, it would suspend sales of the product indefinitely. Its chief medical officer will fly in from the United States on Monday to conduct the investigations with the HSA and SNEC. Contact Lens Practitioners board member Roland Izaac said he was "surprised" at the recent increase in such infections and was unsure of the cause.

"It could be because more people are using contact lenses. And people do abuse their lenses, as they would wear them for four or five years without bothering to clean them," said the eye doctor with 30 years' experience.

.
.
.

Haha. What the eye doctor said really makes me laugh. Not washing lenses for four or five years is madness! But, of course, the eye doctor would not lie about this kind of thing.

I will be a specky nerd for awhile because I am currently using this product for my soft contact lenses - Bausch & Lomb MoistureLoc contact lens solution. Mummy web cammed with me yesterday evening, and was showing me the newspaper article to me (The Straits Times), and questioning me if I was using that brand. Not only did it freak her out that I was using that particular brand, even I was shocked.

I think I've been using this brand of contact lens solution since I started wearing contact lenses, which makes it my 3rd year then. Honestly, I don't find anything wrong with the solution I am using now. But being kiasi (scared to die), I've decided to put my contact lenses away and be specky for awhile. Maybe a week. Maybe 4 days... Maybe... I will start wearing them tomorrow. You see, I haven't gone out with my spectacles for so long, and I definitely feel very weird wearing it in public. Also, people DON'T recognize me when I wear my glasses!!! Trust me, I look super different when I wear specs. Today, already 3 friends just walked past me without realising it was me. Funny, eh? But I'd rather think of wearing specs these few days as a time to relax my eyes and give them more OXYGEN.

BREATHE, MY EYES, BREATHE.

The statistics of people getting fungus in their eyes after using that solution really bothers me. Mum suggested I buy another brand before the whole controversy is solved. What about my 6 bottles of B&L contact lens solution lying between my drawer and the bed? Do I get refunded since those in SG are recalled back. 6 is not a small number okay.

Howww? What should I do...? ):

Better.

I think I feel much better after 2 hours. This is so absurd. =
Now I have the mood to talk about my day. :D

Today marks the end of my first aid course, and honestly, if I have the time, I would go back to refresh my cert as often as possible. My instructor is very informative and wonderful, totally love her. And the course sets you thinking what you should do when this accident ever happens. There always seem to be incidents you never thought would ever happen to you, unless you're the most unfortunate person on the planet. But with the instructor's guidance, we sorta managed to get a grasp of what we should do during an emergency.

(:(:(:

School starts tmr! FIrst official class in Med school. As I told everyone on MSN, I'm 'excited yet sian (bored) at the same time'. Excited because it's the first day of school, and sian because... It's the first day of school. WTH am I saying... Haha. Okay okay, one more time. Excited because it IS the first day of school. New school, new classmates (not really, actually), new environment, new subjects, new lecturers and tutors. Right. And... Sian because I have to start studying like some crazy mugger AGAIN. I am someone who cannot take stress, so if you come annoy me when I'm stressed, you better watch out, cos' the you've just lured a tigress out of her cage man. RAWRRRR. LOL. Or else, you'd be sitting there in front of me, head resting in your palm and elbow on the edge of the table, listening to me sob and moan and complain about anything and everything. At these times, I'd really pity you, even though all I can think about at those times would be me, myself and I. Selfish selfish times. Whaha.

Although school's starting, all I can think of is inter semester break! I would most probably be going to Sydney to see my cousins and also for a short holiday. After that, I'll have my ECC week from 3rd July to the 7th. ECC stands for Early Community Contact, so during that week, I'd be in contact with 'real' people, learning about there medical conditions and dealing with their problems. I think it'd be so cool! :B Can't wait.

I... have nothing else to add on, besides telling you guys that I may not be able to blog as often as I can from tomorrow onwards. I'd be studying hard. Yeah, you bet I will. Hahaha. Actually I really don't know. What do you think?

Upset

Please tell me it's just PMS.
I feel so upset now. All I want to do now is cuddle myself in my room, tune in to slow sad songs... I feel awful. ):

I want to be a hero!!

I just got back from my first day of Red Cross First Aid Training. Guess what? I almost slept several times during the lesson!!! I woke up at freaking 7am (okay, I snoozed till 720am) and the class finished at 5pm!!!

I mean, the class itself IS interesting (CPR, bleeding, poisoning is cool), but I had too little sleep, NO caffeine today, and listening to the same person talk for almost 8 hours is so not fun. And clever me sat right in front of the teacher, so if I did sleep, she would spot me right away! So time crawled slowly... Slowly... Every hour... Every minute.. Every second...

However, I've come to realise that first aid is so important! The instructor was telling us that at least one person in a household must know first aid. :D Obviously, I would be the 1st one in my household to learn first aid. Proud of myself. WHAHA. But then!!!! CPR is not my thing man.

Okay, CPR for children and infants is easy peasy. As long as those mannequin squeak and make some sound, you know you're doing the right thing. HOWEVER, I just cannot give an adult mannequin the correct chest compression! No matter how much I exert force to the chest, it just doesn't squeak!!! ): It only squeaked on my first attempt, which isn't at all a perfect one either. Boooo. I need to eat more so I get more strength to break the rib cage of an adult! MUAHAHA. Yes, I'm obviously joking.

CPR for infants is so CUTE and simple! You know, for an adult mannequin, I gotta use all my might to make it squeak? But for infants, I only require 2 fingers to gently push its chest before it starts squeaking. EASY. And cute! Whahaha! Those mannequin even have names! One infant's called Lucy, and the instructor's favourite mannequin is called George. Lol.

I think I've learnt quite abit today, and I hope I can remember all that I've learnt! I'm gonna have the same thing tomorrow (8 hours !!!!!!) till 5pm. I need this first aid certificate because it's a requirement for my course. It is very interesting and useful. I'm actually quite happy that I did join this training session. When someone's in danger, I can help! I think Singapore should also have these kind of courses for teenagers to attend, because in my point of view, first aid is important. If an accident occurs, help is just there. Don't have to wait for the ambulance to come, cos' it may even be too late for the patient, or the injured party.

Okay, that's it. Gonna have dinner now. Toodles.

Mooloo mooloo!

Mooloo mooloo people!

:D

You guys must be thinking what 'mooloo' is right? Well, 'mooloo' is 'hello from new zealand' (in my own language). So... MOOLOO PEOPLE! Haha. Don't use that word okay.. It's original. It belongs to me and only me! MOOLOO MOOLOO! Hahaha. It sound retarded anyway. XP

I guess most of my friends haven't seen me online since agesss ago, and that's because I'm still in the midst of my orientation!! It's O week!

Yesterday we went to Larnach Castle for Med Ball! And the theme of the night was MEDIEVAL! Whahaha. Initially I planned not to wear anything medieval-ish there, but suddenly everyone was so enthusiastic, and I got excited and started looking for medieval-ish clothes to wear! Haha! And I found a top Mummy got for me from Mango! I must say it is quite medieval-ish, so I wore that with a long skirt I got for CNY. Haha. Call that creativity.

The front gate of Larnach Castle. Taken from inside the bus crowded with students!!

At the beginning it was rather dull... Everybody talking to one another.. Blahblahblah.. When the clock struck 9pm, the lights went down, and disco lights came up! Slowly, people started gathering at the dance floor showing off their dance moves. Honestly, the songs weren't exactly good, but some were, like 'Lose My Breath' by Destiny's Child. WOOHOO, that song is BEST for dancing man! Haha. It's really interesting to see people with their moves, be it saucy, cutesey, or robot-ish. It's the company that matters most, and I must say I had heaps of fun last night!

Sorry but no photos yet, cos' photographers Nadia and Queenie haven't passed photos to me yet! -ahem ahem- Hehe. Our orientation lasts till Saturday night at The Cook (some famous pub in Dunedin). Don't know if I'll go there on Saturday, but we'll see. (:

On a totally different note, I'm missing home so badly. ): Even though I've got friends here in Dunedin, I miss my dear friends back in Singapore (you guys know who you are). I asked my sis (Janice) if she misses Singapore. Guess what she replied?

'Er... Actually not really. I just miss the food.'

!!!!!!!!

How can she?!?! I thought we were shopping queens!!! Haha!

I miss the shopping, the city, the food, the company. Everything about Singapore. Somehow I never fail to miss home everytime I come back to NZ. This shows how much I heart SG. Teehee.

Me with Shuo and Joan. Will miss you guys soooo much! All the shopping and gossiping and eating. (:

At the airport with Ning, Ah Ma, Jac, Mummy and JONNY! Hahaha. You know you guys are treasures to me. I miss Ah Ma!!!!! ): And to Ning and Jac, thanks for the Kbox treat! Muah!

Me looking at Thazin's SUPERB DIY jeans! Thanks ah girl, it is inside my cupboard loh. At least I didn't hide it under my bed. LOL. =P

Eifer-07 + Bryan and Jack. THANKS A MILLION! You guys never fail to send me off everytime I leave for NZ. EIFER FOREVER. Hee.

Anyhow, I'm quite happy here, because friends are all coming back to Dunedin, weather is SO good even I cannot believe it myself, and my sis is here, finally! I mean, she's been here for almost 2 months, but I just got here, right?

There are so much to do during these 2 weeks. Blood tests, vaccinations, SCHOOL (we start school a week earlier than everyone else!!), orientation, administration stuff, meeting up with friends, and so on. I'm so blardy tired man. Can be a good thing and a bad thing, but I'd rather think of it as good. Keeps me busy.

Eiferians, if you want the photos at the airport from me, just msg me on MSN okay? I've got them uploaded already. Steph, I think there's one photo in your cam right? I want that!! Hehe. In the mean time, all of you just chill and keep it real. Those who are gonna have their exams, 加油加油加油!Out!

To Janice : Your long lost boyfriend

Janice, when I was in Takashimaya the other day, I spotted your long lost boyfriend!!!!

Remember or not? The super macho one, the very very tall one.. And of course, very huggable! :D

You know, he's been wearing the same clothes for the past 8 years, but when I saw him that day, he was wearing a different suit! I was shocked! And guess what? I took a photo of him too! Secretly lah. I didn't want him to know I'm spying on him for you. Hahahaha.

Janice, I present to you, your long lost boyfriend!!!!!!!!!

I secretly took his photo from his left!! Uber cute!

Uh oh! He spotted me!!!

HAHAHAHA. This is so lame. Anyway Janice, don't you miss him??? So cute and huggable. You like. =P

My eyes.

If I don't recall wrongly, I've been wearing spectacles since Secondary 1. No, to be exact, Primary 5, when I had to wear only when I look at the blackboard. You want to know how I managed to get my eyes so 'spoilt'?

Er.. I'm actually having second thoughts whether or not to tell you. Because.... It's STUPID. Hahaha.

But anyway, here goes. When I was in primary school, I've got a group of really good friends (the 4 of us). And out of the 4 of us, 2 of us wear spectacles. Somehow, I thought wearing spectacles is very COOL. OMG, should I stop telling you about this? Oh heck, I'll continue. ANYWAY, ya, since I thought it was so cool, I tried to spoil my eyes! I tried on my friend's glasses for fun, and wear them during classes. Within a year, my eye degree went up by 200 degrees! That is MADNESS, people. So when I was in Sec 1, I had to permanently wear glasses in order to stabilize my eye degree.

Then after wearing spectacles for 4 years, I finally tried on contact lenses at the age of 17. I must say I am super brave and 厉害. LOL. I managed to learn how to wear and take off the lenses within 10min. Woohoo! So till date, I've been wearing contact lenses almost permanently for 2 years. Honestly, I think wearing contact lenses is bad for the eyes. Everytime I take off my contact lenses, all I want to do is just close my eyes... And never open them again. Somehow, wearing these lenses make your eyes so tired until people see your eyes as 2 thin lines. -__-

But because of vanity and convenience (come to think about it, actually not much of convenience ), I continued putting contact lenses. If you're a friend of mine on MSN messenger, you'll notice I always put my personal message as 'I want perfect eyesight', or something else along that line. Now that I think of my primary school days, I think I'm the dumbest person on the planet. -.-

I have thought of going for lasik surgery to perfect my eyesight, but it seems scary. Many say it's not time for me to do it yet, wait till I'm older and my eyesight stabilises. But I think what worries me is the long term side effects. It would be terrible if I ever lose my eyesight. EVER. Even if I'm old and wrinkly, I still want to see with my own 2 eyes. So all I gotta do now is wait for the success rate to go up. Yup, that's what I'm gonna do. Wait. And wait.

Gadgets, CQ and Ah Belle!!

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO JANICE: Your 'O' level result slip can be collected this Friday afternoon. MUAHAHAHA. Scared? Don't worry, I'll go collect it for you.
Techie techie techie!!
I think my mum's the mum. She's so... HIP man. She knows about everything and anything (besides sci. LOL. you should hear her answer jon's science qns. super cute.)!! She even knows the latest tech gadgets! Well, she got me a 80GB external hard disk (okay those who got it already may be thinking this is nothing man.. but for girls this is an ACHIEVEMENT! we're techie friendly! =P), and she got me a Skype phone as well!
What is a Skype phone, I hear you say? Well, you know the programme Skype which allows you to call anywhere in the world if you've got internet and, of course, the programme! Most people will use a mic to speak with their friends through the net, but my mum's got a phone for me! So I'll have a better 'feel' of talking to my friends. Awww.. LOL. Actually this gadget is kinda useless, but I think it's really cooooool!! You should see it, so here it is!

the skype phone. power.
The Skype phone has got buttons just like those we can find on ordinary land phones. Whaha. Just that it is plugged into a computer!

cant wait to use it with my friends! yahooo!

hihooooo!

Hihooo! :D

My, my... Time really flies, and guess what? I'll be leaving for New Zealand in 3 days time! That's a really short time. At this time of the year, I face farewells after farewells, be it cousins leaving to further their studies, friends taking buses to Malaysia (WHAHAHA. Yes Thazin I'm talking about you), or... Just me leaving my country.

To me, personally, farewells are tough to handle with, especially if the person leaving is someone very dear to me. Farewells always remind me of the 1st time I left Singapore to study overseas. I remember crying non-stop for almost 3 hours, starting from seeing my friends come to send me off, to reading farewell cards and opening farewell gifts from my dearest friends on the plane. I was practically wailing in the plane. Come to think about it, I think I really threw my face that day. Luckily I was disguised by my swollen eyes and flushed cheeks. =x

But our farewells are just temporary, because we will meet one another again. I just don't want to say goodbye forever. Get my point? So I always pray that everyone who is dear to me will stay safe and healthy, because I wouldn't want anything terrible to happen to any of them. People do get sick, people do grow old, so saying our last goodbyes is inevitable. Sometimes we got to accept the reality and move on with our lives. If we find it tough, we got to learn to let go of things. I will let go, but I will never forget.

Hmm. This post seems to be too solemn.

OKAY! Lighten up people! Here are just some updates on my life:
  • CNY was great! But of course, those who are missing in action are dearly missed by us too! I'm actually still in the 拜年 process. Lots of ang baos!!! (:
  • I feel really blessed to be surrounded by so many beautiful people. When I say beautiful, I mean the inside being beautiful. I just wish I can flick those irritating and gross people away with my super powderful index finger! -whistles-
  • Isabelle is soo CUTE!!!!!!!! Irresistibly kawaii ne!
  • I must say my mahjong skills are improving!!! I'm not joking this time! I'm darn serious!!
  • Ben's back in Dunny! So NZ friends can go visit him now. Hahaha. I bet he's busy playing with his beloved desktop huh? Don't think I don't know ah... Lol.
  • I've got lots of new techie gadgets and other funky accessories from Mummy!!!!! You're the best, Ma! No wonder all my friends say you're cool. Teeeheeee. :B
  • I'm going to draw up a diet plan.. Not for me, but for my puppy AJ. FATTY PIGGGG!!!
  • I'm still learning cooking from my super grandma.
  • Qi's gonna be a happy girl in a day's time. Lucky girl you. Smiley!
  • I got to chat with Nien on MSN FINALLY! After almost 3-4 months!
  • Janice is complaining again that she's too lazy to blog and requests me to blog for her. HMM. I think I ought to get paid sometimes. Hahaha.

Okay, right now I just want to sit back and relax and chill during these few days in SG. After that, it's farewell again. ):(: <-- sad cos I'm leaving my family and friends, happy because ben's in NZ. Peace to the world!!!!!!

Specially to Tuck Yuan.

This morning, at about 810am, we bidded goodbye to our dearest Tuck... ):

YES I ADMIT. I CRIED... Don't you know that Jessica is a cry baby? She cries about everything and anything.

Tuck Yuan. My cousin who is a year older than I am, who is extremely hilarious, who is ever so thoughtful.

TUCK YUANNNNNNNNN! Please take care okay? I think the main reason why I cried when I sent you off was because I was worried for you. Everytime I think of how you're going to be independent, going to live your own life from now onwards, I worry for you. You have definitely come to this stage with much difficulty. I am indeed very proud of you to be able to get a scholarship to further your studies overseas. So you gotta work hard and continue to do us proud. (:

Please look after yourself, and I'll see you really soon! I promise I'll go to Sydney to look for Ming and you, okay? Oh, your dad's gonna see you soon too! And of course, Ning as well. See? Everyone loves you so much! Hahaha! The outside world is very different from the sheltered life you've got in Singapore. It's good to learn from the experience you get outside of SG. So, study hard and play hard too! Don't be a hermit and study whole day ya? Remember Xiao Shiang jiejie's advice.

I really hope you do check out my blog, or else this post is so useless. Haha. Lastly, cousins forever, Tuck. We cousins stand strong together. Haha. Cheers! (:

P.S. Remember to send us the photos we took in the airport okay?! I've got 2 photos of you from the outside of the departure gate.
