da fix.

so this afternoon, i got my almost-daily coffee at the cafe close to the hospital. Ordered the usual - trim latte.

then waited for the coffee lady to shout out my order.

"regular trim latte with one sugar."

i quickly said thanks (in a rush!), but then stopped as that sentence repeated again in my head.

"trim latte with one sugar."

hmms.. talk about being healthy. tried to be at first, but failed in the end haha.

What I've been doing the whole week.

BBBBOOOOORRRRRREEEEEDDDDDDD.

As you may have guessed, Dunners isn't the most happening place in the world to be in.. With my lack of updates even though I GOT NO SCHOOL FOR THE WHOLE WEEK!!!!!!!

What have I been doing?! Erm, getting up at 11 every morning.. Do lunch with the bf and the sis.. Flat hunting... Cook dinner.. Have dinner.. Flat hunting.. Wasting my megabytes away surfing and doing useless stuff on the net.. (EXCLUDING blogging lol).. Yup.



Flat hunting's been pretty.. eye opening for both janice and i.. we saw:

1) the prettiest and flashiest flat on york pl BUT THE CURRENT TENANTS DON'T WANNA MOVE (!!!!!!!!)

2) the crappy flat right next to that flashy flat which turned out to be ultra trashy because it was in comparison to that awesome place. ==

3) flats with nobody home.. AHHHHHHHH!

4) the most untidy flat i've ever seen in my ENTIRE LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the worst thing is that the current tenants are 3 GIRLS.. and.. everything was ON THE FLOOR - clothes (heaps of them), notes, bed sheets, shampoo, spoons, bags, money.. whatever you can think of they're all on the floor. not just in 1 room, but ALL 3 ROOMS, THE TOILET AND THE LIVING ROOM!!! it was horrible. period.

5) the potential flat we were all excited to view! it was quiet, close to town, !!NEW!!, own car porch, a little pricey but!!! awesomeness! went to see the flat.. to our disappointment.. it was too small!!! both rooms were smaller than my current one.. kitchen's smaller.. lounge's smaller.. toilet is right next to the entrance!?!?! so, of course, this 'potential flat' of ours became nothing-ness in a matter of minutes. OUR HOPES WERE LITERALLY CRUSHED...

So the hospital's still infected with norovirus, and it's restricting as many people as possible so we wouldn't be camping next to the toilet bowl waiting to hurl or splash into the pan from the bottom. I know, that sounded pretty GROSS. off school for a weekkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk. but nothing to do.......................

Yesterday's yet another sobby day.


We finally managed to get Marcus and Qian to teach us Ceroc for our Lost musical! I was suuuper excited cos' Ceroc looks very fun and partner dancing's pretty cool! So, of course, I paired up with the one and only Mr James for this dance. He, being the all macho and never ever a gentle man, was tugging and pulling me instead of the normal initiation in the dance.. My wrists hurt so badly!!! But never mind, I forgive him (LOL).

No, that wasn't the reason why I sobbed. The story continues.

Pro-ness.

The 2 other pairs were dancing and advancing really quickly.. but I was struggling!!! I kept wondering how come I couldn't get my steps right!!! Nothing was staying in my head and whatever Qian and Marcus were teaching me was just floating away... Farrr away... James and I kept repeating the same few steps, but I kept making the same mistakes and had to have him reminding me what the next step is..

I FELT SO HORRIBLE!!!

I've learnt certain few dances before, and this was the first time I've ever had problems retaining steps in my head! I was going crazzzzy! James came and told me that I needed to watch and absorb whatever I see, because that's the way I learn (according to him). And I just broke down. I felt so crappy!! I was holding everyone back, especially James. ): As I was crying (pretty hard out), suddenly I felt I couldn't breathe!!! I was trying to take deep breaths, like REALLY biiiiiiiig breaths and I couldn't speak! Being the all-time cry baby, I knew this 'hard out' crying wasn't the usual kind! I was REALLY choking!!

So James brought me outside to take a breather (HAHA), but I stuffed my fingers in, and realised my gum was still in my mouth!!!!! So I pulled out the gum, and a few more bits further behind my throat.


YES I GOT CHOKED ON MY GUM WHILE I WAS CRYING.

How embarrassing!!!! ):

LOL. Now thinking about it makes me laugh. It wasn't at all funny last night. So this morning my eyes are small as ever and I look totally single eyelid-ed. -.- I'm so gonna watch the dance steps until I learn them and drill them into my puny BRAIN!!!!!!!!

Maybe I'm dylexic!! Hmms. I could very well be, you know? Got a joke about dyslexia (not a mean one!) will tell you guys next time hahaha enough of drama in this post.. :P

So next post will be about dyslexia and me finding out if I'm affected! Haha.

It's been a love and hate relationship for surgery run and me. My first 4 weeks with the team. Love and hate. Love and hate. After the first week with the team, I started to feel pretty ostracized, for the very first time ever since starting clinical year. Because of my skin colour, my height, not-so-good surgical knowledge, and also because of the opposing beliefs with 1 of the surgeons. I think that's pretty enough said.

But I survived, surprisingly, even though those weeks felt like forever. And now I'm with another team. More stressful, compulsory Saturday morning ward rounds, patient presentations on Mondays and Saturdays, endless patient lists, on-call every single day, but I'm enjoying it so much more.. The team's friendlier, surgeons are nice(r) lol, scrubbing into more surgeries!!! Saw a gastric bypass, carotid endarterectomy, 2x debridement of ischaemic limbs just this week! 1 AAA repair next week waiting for me to scrub into. I'm tired to the bones, but I'm really fine with it! That's why we got (some of the) weekends to recuperate. (:

Had a repeat of my oral exam today and I PASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSED. I screwed up the first one (it was on meningitis i did pretty badly for it..zzz..). So I'm feeling good tonight. Hehe.

christchurch trip and my 22nd!!

FRIDAY FRIDAY FRIDAY!!!!

I think today would be one of my favourite-st Fridays in my entire life because I'm extremely tired and I just need to sleep the weekend off!!!!

Pics from Christchurch trip! We had loads of fun even though we didn't do much there.. Haha. I only got the photos when we were in Orana Wildlife Park, will get photos from Janice soon.

Anyway, when we were there it was freezing cold. It started raining, then HAILING, THEN SNOWING!!! At times when we looked out of the window from the cafe, it was snowing on the left and hailing on the right. It's really funny.

The highlight of that visit to the wildlife park was MEETING THE LIONS. HAHAHAHAHA. It was SOOOOOO scary cos we were like a metre away from them! We visited their dens and we got roared at it was FREAKY!!!!!!!! Hahaha. Watch the video and you'll know.

this is a lion, not a lioness. according to the lion keeper, this chap has been castrated (ouch.) so he wouldn't breed with his sibling (erm... so there's something called incest in the animals in zoos), and because of that, his mane didn't grow out.. awww! we mistook him as a lioness. hahah.

lyds was part of my surprise, but it got ruined cos i kinda figured out that she was coming.. HAHA. so i concluded that my sis and i are the WORST people for organising surprises cos they always don't work out.

janice was thinking out loud in the car, and she said 'yay my saviour just told me how to go to the restaurant!' then i replied 'aiyah, must be lydia liao.. who else knows such good restaurants lah'.

then my sis got all quiet. HAHAHAHA. i didn't suspect that lyds was joining us, until we drove to the carpark and i saw her car parked right in front of the restaurant.

then somehow when we arrived at the restaurant, janice, lyds and james were like giving each other eye signals, then james suddenly disappeared. i kept asking where he went and lyds, being a very lousy liar (sorry ah, lyds haha!), said he went to the toilet. he came back like 20minutes later. == and his sweater was COLD when he got back, so that made me pretty suspicious that they've got something else in store for me.

BUT! i forgot about that and after they got me to order DESSERT, the waiter came to me from behind and placed a lited birthday cake in front of me! I WAS REALLY SURPRISED!!!!

and the cake was from the all famous DESSERT ROOM!!!!! yum!!

that afternoon while waiting to be REGISTERED to see a doc @ the polyclinic, i got some 嘟嘟糕 (Kueh Tutu!!!) at a nearby coffee shop.

you know what, they were so yummy!!! i didn't take a photo of their signboard, but i remember they're call 淡滨尼嘟嘟糕 ! Hahaha. It's at a coffeeshop in AMK, so they must've shifted! I ordered the coconut tutu, the coconut was very fresh and crunchy! Plus, the aunty (it was an old couple there) filled the tutu with lots of coconut. Very generous. 5 for $2.. Yummm.

i met joan yesterday after her short trip to korea. we talked non-stop while manicuring together, and my manicurist was commenting that i said 'oh my goodness' a MILLION times! that's a bad habit!!

my french and her white fingernails! hahaha. we were shopping at zara, and she kept asking me if this cardigan matches the colour of her nails... hahaha. i rolled my eyes and said 'joan! white matches everything!!!'

isn't that so true??? hehe. anyway she got this HOT PINK cardigan from zara and it's really pretty!!! i didn't get one myself, cos i doubt my patients would like such bright colours staring at them at 8am in the morning.. haha.

got my pedicure too.. oh gosh, i LOVEEEEEE pedicures... why am i NOT doing that often! it's so comfortable!!! oh, and i'm totally in love with the colour of my toenails... yayy..

im wearing that hot pink cardigan! cos' i was freezing after a tall green tea frap. i was sooooo happy that joan drinks green tea frap too... loves!! hahaha!

the restaurant didn't charge GST and service charge! sweet!

soup of the day - cream of vegetables.. not very creamy, but yummy lah. haha. it's better creamier..

my main - black pepper chicken chop with sides CRUNCHY coleslaw and baked herb potatoes. the chicken chop was oooooooook... the coleslaw wasn't crunchy and the veges were drowned with the gravy... didn't really like it.. and the herb potatoes were cold by the time my main came to the table. quite disappointing.

stephie's dish was keyed in wrongly and the kitchen had to spend yet another 1 hour to cook up another dish for her! it was ridiculous.. the manager gave us 10% discount, which calculated to be the cost of how much stephie was supposed to pay, so she got a free meal. (: but we were pretty disappointed lah, cos' qi chungie stephie and mel went there before, and the service isn't as good.. and the mains too...

BUT i must raveeee about their New York Cheesecake...

i. was. in. heaven.

it was sooooooo good. i give it 11/10. the cheesey part was not ultra duper cheesey, it was really yummy and creamy and melts in my mouth....... MMMMMMMMM.... and the biscuit part at the bottom was thick!! i loved this dessert sooooooooo much.....

man, i'm salivating...

it was funny, cos the rest of them came before, they ALL agreed that hazelnut crunch was super yummy, so all 4 of them ordered them when i ordered the cheesecake. hahaha. i halved my cheesecake with chungie and she totally agreed that the cheesecake beat hazelnut crunch last night. woohoO~~! i tried abit of the hazelnut crunch too! it was yummy too.. but the taste of my cheesecake was still lingering in my mind.. too good to be true.. i'm SERIOUS..

im flying off to nz tonight... what a short holiday......

but i'll be back, singapore. i definitely will!

you know, before the dishes are being served, we're given peanuts to snack on. and people who starve themselves to enjoy every bit of their dinner, like me, munch on tasty peanuts! hey, we pay for it anyway!

but for me, i like to have them dipped in chilli sauce, especially the sourish spicy kind.. YUMMM! hahaha! at first, the girls didn't realise i was doing it, but then when they finally caught me doing it, they tried too. GUESS WHAT? they love it toooo! :D:D:D you should try it too, if you take the spiciness.

dinner with dad yesterday was at crystal jade palace. man. i must tell all of you that crystal jade has 3 branches on 4th floor of ngee ann city ITSELF. u MUST confirm which branch you called - whether it was 拉面，korean cuisine or palace. 拉面 doesn't take reservations though.

it was SUPER busy. we booked for a table at 730pm and because they got the spelling of my surname wrong (theung, instead of Cheung.. man.... *smacks forehead*), they gave me ideas that i called the wrong branch, and so i was made to walk around the whole of 4th floor looking for the other 2 branches and asking if i accidentally made a reservation there.

of course they found out their mistake about my surname, but we still had to wait for 15 more minutes before we FINALLY got our table. yes, they were EXTREMELY EXTREMELY busy.

i was long awaiting to have some roast duck, but because we finally ordered at 815ish, they were all sold out......... ):

overall, i thought the food wasn't the best.. i was hoping to taste better goods, but... was kinda diasppointed. oh well! shall just stick to 拉面 in future! hehe.

went to have late dessert at nydc with dad and jon after that!

my tiramisu mud pie. it was something like an ice cream cake. not too bad. but by the time i was done with half of it, the ice cream was melting like one kind. but the kahlua biscuit underneath was liquor-ish enough! very yum!

jon had double trouble inside out or SOMETHING LIKE THAT.. hahaha.

cos jon dropped a few teet very recently, he was complaining that the chocolate chips were too HUGE and too hard... == that's a first time for me, really..

see how he picked all of them out!

3 more days here. and about 2 more days for me to do my research. GOSH..............
