Funny turn?

"to have a funny turn"

definition: to suddenly become ill. Like if someone faints, or suddenly goes weak.

example: "I had a funny turn after I had given blood"

To my fellow med classmates who EVER wondered what 'funny turns' in our notes meant! LOL.

P.S. I've been blogging almost everyday! OMG! Hahaha.

Uber stresssssssss.

Super stressed now.. Supersupersupersupersuper. Help me, Lord.

Lyds saw this picture of mine and guess what she commented...

"Jess, you look pregnant, with your right arm in front of your stomach. I can imagine you pregnant now.."

HAHAHAHAHA. Thanks Lyds. This is what I really need now.. A good laugh... Sigh.. I don't know how to study already... -sobs-

For those who think they still ahve alot to revise:

Psalms 43:5 Why are you crushed down, O my soul? And why are you troubled in me? Put your hope in God, for I will again give Him praise who is my help and my God.

Amen.

This verse came from the piece of paper Pastor Mok gave students from DCMC almost 3 years ago. It is filled with verses to help comfort us before, during and after examinations. It's so helpful.. I'm very thankful for that.

Why is it that everytime we feel vulnerable and weak that we start looking upon God...? I so dislike myself when it happens to myself. Feel so unworthy sometimes. Forgive me, Lord.. I'm just a meek human.. Help me to always lean on You and lead not on my own understanding.. For You're the Almighty God.. Thank You for everything You've done for us.

the strong ones.

No matter how happy someone looks on the outside, there's always gonna be something deep within that is making him/her sad. It's the people who look happy and strong that are the most vulnerable and need our concern so badly.

To my strong friends.. Thank you for being there when I'm down, when I'm angry, when I just feel all crappy and irritated.. While you hide your own frustrations inside. You're human, so you can always cry your hearts out, and I will be there for you.

I'm the weak one. I'm the crybaby who cries about almost everything. So I gotta learn to be strong. Just like you guys.

Kudos to you, my lovelies. You're simply amazing.

About blogging.

Note to self: MUST FINISH STUDYING RDA TODAYYY!

Just a random thought.

I'm in no say to what other people think, but to me, I think that blogs can be so public, yet so private at the same time. You never know what people are exactly saying when they put a 'you' inside, or a 'she' or a 'he' (obviously this won't be referring to me..). It's a diary, but an open one. I never knew this would ever happen, because when I still had a REAL diary which can be held, can have pages flipped over and over again, I had soooooo much difficulty trying to hide it somewhere so Mum/Sis/Domestic helper won't find it COINCIDENTALLY and start reading about my crush about this guy and that guy and everything else.. (oops.) Now blogs are just, open diaries! Never expected this to ever happen in my life. Ever.

Anyway! Back to my topic.

Some girls start gushing over this really awesome guy.. Rahrahrah.. Without his name inside so they won't feel at all embarrassed if someone who knew THAT awesome guy reads her blog.

Kids start cursing and swearing about this particular teacher. Tell me how many Miss Lee-s there are in this world who are teachers?

But come to think of it, once you pen any of these details down, there's always someone reading it (because you allowed them to do so duh) and IF there ever is a coincidence that your post was about that particular someone, then you've been exposed!

There will hardly be any coincidence when you say 'I went to Cineleisure at 3pm this afternoon with HER. If it wasn't for Jane I wouldn't be there at all! We watched Me, Myself and Dupree. Gosh. (add whatever b*tching about her).'

If you think she doesn't have your blog address and won't read what you say about her, then you're wrong. Friends link to you, friends' friends link to them, friends' friends' friends link to them.. And TADA! Your blog's been found - COINCIDENTALLY. Congrats to you. You've been exposed!

About bad-mouthing teachers, if you know where this kid is residing, maybe you can narrow the list down, and if you EVER know which school he/she's in, HOHO, he/she could be in danger of getting detention or publicly apologizing to the teacher in front of the whole school!

I remember one of my classmates in secondary school was punished for teasing one of our teachers when he did some photoshop to her photo or something along that line. SEE? Even PRINCIPALS of your school READS YOUR BLOG.

Don't ever think the blogosphere is safe - especially if you're saying bad stuff about people! We all blog hop and hop and hop into so many people's so-called private lives and read and look at pictures of them.. Rahrahrah. If you want a private diary, just own one yourself! The internet itself is already exposing you to the whole wide worldddd.

This post is NOT pinpointing to a particular person, because it does happen to many of us. Any similarity in any of the fictional characters in this post is purely coincidental.

Gosh, I love that word - coincidental.

Before I start my mugging for the day (lol), I just want to say that...

Driving on a motorway on an EXTRA windy and rainy day in a wee car is NOT FUN.

This morning I drove Mum and Jonathan to the airport. Because we were running late (thanks to Jon's urge to visit the toilet and me losing my way.. again..), I had to drive real fast so they won't miss their flight. But the drive there was extremely dangerous!!

Missy Mirage is a tiny car, and also very light. Driving at about 120km/h is freakin' scaryyy! All of us could feel the car shaking, and I had to control the car and not let anything distract me. I could feel the tension.. All towards me.. Having to be drive safely for my passengers, and at the same time rush them to the airport within the shortest time.

I wouldn't wanna drive in such terrible weather anymore. If I don't have the choice, I'd ask someone else to drive.. Putting other people's lives in my hands.. Very pressurizing. Actually, this reminds me of what I'm gonna do in future.

People will be relying on me (and also other doctors) to get them well. If I can't take this pressure right now, how am I going to do well in future? I'd just be a coward pushing all the responsibilities to someone else. Hmm. Not nice to do that, and not fun.. Lol. No challenge at all.. SO! I have to take things in my stride and do the best I can!

But still, doubt I'd be driving at such terrible weather anytime soon. The wind.. Howling and pushing the car towards the centre of the road/the road shoulder. ARGH! My heart is still racing. Even my room door is shaking because of the wind!!!!!! OMG.

Something else to talk about. Studying has been slooooooooow for me, but I have promised myself that I will work extra hard these 2 weeks and play hard out after the exams!

Reminder to self: 12 days to finals. =="

HAPPY LABOUR DAY, Y'ALL!

Okay, I think that's only relevant to those in NZ. But still, HAPPY LABOUR DAY! :D

Since it's a public holiday (AND a day from my study week), I've decided to bake pandan cake (YUMYUMYUM)... HEHE.. Will do it later at James'. Mum and Jon are here for a week too, but leaving tmr.. HAHAHA.. So James and I decided to make dinner for them before they fly off.. Aww.

Finally settled for accomo next year. All I can say is the flat's very centralised and it's all to both my sis and I! 2 rooms!! Yayayayay. (:* The apartment shall be called 'under one roof', because the restaurant above us is called ROOFTOP Restaurant! Okay, abit at the lame side, but still happy because I've got a place to live in next year!

Reminder to self: 12 days to 1st paper! CRAP.

<<全然為你>>

A song I found in the church's Yahoo! group folder! Like it alot. (:

A preview of it under my profile. Enjoy!

Hohoho, 长大咯!

Today the bunch of us who have/or been forced to select Dunedin to be their murder house for 3 (OR MORE) years had an orientation and we were also brought around for ward rounds!

Gosh. It's almost about time we're finally stepping into the ultimate 'REAL' world. Patients, nurses, arrogant registrars (kidding).. And honestly..

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so so so so so so excited about clinicals!!! Not excited about murdering someone with my own hands lah!! I mean, we'll start making mistakes right from the start, and still make mistakes right before we graduate, BUT!!! The thing is that we're going to be mini doctors! I can't keep my excitement!! Hahahaha. Like a storm in a teacup, just that the storm is a more colourful and jumpy and all excited one.

The hospital itself, in my opinion, looks just like a much bigger Colquhuon (our lecture theatre, also within the hospital)! HAHA. The doors all look the same! Yellow or algae-ish green.. Eew.. (time to change their palette!) Lololol. But it's still a hospital, a place where people recuperate and doctors (trying to) work their way into correctly diagnosing patients and giving the right dosage of drugs and everything else.. It's good that almost everyone knows that it's a teaching hospital, so whenever we screw up, we hope they'll understand and just close one eye... Hehehe..

Time to get my stethoscope and clinical handbooks! ARHHHHHHHHH! Can't wait lah!!! OF COURSE WE CAN'T FORGET ABOUT OUR 3RD YEAR FINALS... THAT HURDLE.. Is NOT fun. ): Study study study.

Raspberry coloured stethoscope's what I'm gonna get! Very expected of me right. LOL.

在祢宝座前 - 赞美之泉

It's the exam period again! Whahaha. Time to mugmugmug like noone's business! But before that..

Some thoughts..

I find it extremely difficult to accept terrible attitudes.. Because I just get put off by those kind of people.. I musn't say that my attitude is the best, but sometimes some people just got really odd behaviours and exaggerate too much! I just keep quiet and let them rant.. Because I would just assume that they had a bad day.. Or they had someone else in their mind.. Pray that God will give me a forgiving heart to understand them and help them in anyway I can.. And... 忍!tahantahantahan. 忍耐就是那么的重要!

Something to be happy about: I'm in the church camp committee for next year! Yay! Will be in charge of advertising and coming up with a pretty handbook for everyone! (: Have done it this year and I enjoy working with my brothers and sisters in church. We were given a prayer schedule to pray about our camp next year.. Hopefully it'll be another exciting one! It'll be at Gore.. Haven't been there before, but I heard it's an awesome campsite! Yay! (:

Camp this year!

Oh, and we also started a 关怀网! So everyone of us have to concern for someone else in church. Sung Ling's 关心ing me, and I'll be looking after Chey Ying. It's so gonna be like 小天使 game, just that we all know who our 小天使s are. Hopefully through this 关怀网 we will get to know our other brothers and sisters better. Quality beats quantity. As long as our churchies are strong in our faith, we don't have to be afraid that the Word's not being spread. 对内. That's gonna be the aim of our camp too. (:

Finally got my ball photos! Just got 2 from the photographer, because a 5" by 7" photo costs $8!!!!!! Crazy. But I must say everyone looks so beautiful.. Something I have to treasure.. Because we are all gonna split up next year.. That's referring to Jen, Nads and Meits lah.. Aww.. Don't like thinking about that.. But yes it's so gonna happen.. Meits and Nads in CCH, Jen joining them a year later after her BMedSci(hon) and me in Dunners. AWWWWWWWWWWW! ): Will try to scan the ball photos in sometime soon.. But for now, some photos from the ball.. I think I didn't post any on the blog.. Have been facebook-ing.. LOL. Here are the photos from my camera! THANK YOU JANICE FOR DOING UP MY HAIR AND MAKE UP!

Theme of the ball -Masquerade!

Photos from Nad's camera. It was the day we took our 3rd year class photo. (: I WILL MISS U ALL!

Today's dissection was in the pelvic region... And it was, as usual, SO COOL! HAHA. (i can see jen rolling her eyes lol) The human body is absolutely amazing (i know i've said this before). Just talking about the uterus. So small, but can accommodate one huge baby, or even more than that! Then, when it's time to give birth, the birth canal aka the pelvic canal, man.. It's hard to visualize how babies can come out of that tiny hole. One word: 棒!It's possible.. That's why most of us are given birth the natural way.. I was too, at first, until Mum got too tired so Doc had to use a forceps to pull me out )X Poor mummy.

Of course that's not me! That's Baby Ronald McDonald! HAHAHAHAHAHA. Abit creepy.. I know..

This is so random, but! I'm so excited about clinicals I don't know why!!!! I know doctors will come bombarding huge words to me and asking me what's this and that.. Very extremely stressful, but I guess it's a totally different thing c/f studying.. So.. I don't know! I can't keep my excitement! But of course I have to pass this year first lah.. Or else I don't even have to talk about clinicals. )X

Qi, I replied your letter liao. Have you received it yet? (:

I MISS SINGAPORE FOOD TOO. Can't wait to go back!!

Back to my books. Bye!

Photos!

Photos that were supposed to be up AGES ago! There you go! I think I can be labelled the 'fan girl' already. You'll understand as you browse through the photos. (:

Mooncake Festival Night 中秋晚會 (22/09)

* 我現在在學注音!請多多指教!! ^^ *

The fan I used during our fan dance!

Dancers that night! LOVE ALL OF YOU! And huge thanks to Kar Wai and Hooi Xian for being such great teachers! (:(:(:

Med Cultural Night (27/09)

8 of us girls from the Med 3 class came up with a Korean traditional fan dance. It was AWESOME. The hanbok (Korean traditional dress) was so pretty!!! And the fans were very pretty too. I enjoyed my time both at practices and on the actual day. Hurray!

Spot me in the photos! ;)

We made formations in the dance, and some of them are:

The wave

Huge flower!

Lyds came to watch the show! (:

And so did James. -blush- HAHAHAHAHAHA.

The Korean dance WITH A TWIST in the middle - a fast dance which was more like twisting and rolling of bodies. HAHA. We had a few seconds in between the 2 dances to get changed from hanbok to the other outfit.. Thanks to Queenie's mum, I was up and ready to go for both dances. Yay!

Fast dance!

There! Abit late but better than no photos.. LOL.

Hugs and SUPER WET KISSES from James (andI)! HAHAHA.

Rain on me.

Okay, this is just gonna beblahblahblahblah coming out from me. I'm feeling kinda down right now so just let me rant..

Good friends are hard to come by.. But whenever we meet someone whom we think we can click with, we cherish it and try to give our best to them. Recently I feel more and more distant from my church friends.. I recall last year when we had good times together.. We have good times together, talking over coffee or just bumming around having fun.. We have bad times together too, struggling with studies and conflicts because of some nonsensical stuff..
All the board games, baking through the night, chatting, shopping, birthday surprises, mini parties just for fun, eating and eating and eating.. Rarara.. Somehow everything's changed.. Even though we're still friends, we're still brothers and sisters in Christ, but then the bond.. That kind of relationship that I cherished so very much.. It's gone.

I don't want to think of reasons why it happened, because it probably is just something that happened..naturally. Maybe.. Maybe not....................... Maybe it's just me.

Not making any assumptions or whatsoever. Not wanting anyone to make any ammendments or changes or how they treat me. I just feel left out from everything. Period.

Boo.

And we're back to the boring old template. Don't know what happened to the pretty one with flowers.. ): No time to edit my template so I shall just make do with this!

Exams in less than 2 months' time and everyone around me is freaking me OUT! Don't even have that push to study just yet... GRR. Badbadbad.

The sweetest thing.

Today started slightly bad.. Had a late night because I was attempting to squeeze all those annoying zits on my face. Okay, the whole night wasn't taken by that, but I slept at freakin' 2am and I woke up this morning thinking that the earth was revolving much faster than normal! My head was spinning and gosh, it was just awful. But everything was reversed, thanks to lydia lim mei yin (haha, i just lurve saying her full name i dunno why). Had lovely breakie with the sweetest lyds! Capers-ed with lydsy just made the whole disgusting episode disappear. (:(:(: We just talked our hearts out while we dug our faces into our breakfast. Though it was a short meet up (just an hour isn't enough!), it was definitely a fulfilling one. I MISS YOU ALREADY LYDS. Can't wait for our rugby world cup date tomorrow night (oh, and oggling of cute guys HAHA)! Oh, and did I mention that we have sister cars right now?! My 1997 Mitsubishi Mirage and her 1995 Mitsubishi Mirage? See the similarity? LOL. Okay, I think I'm just exhilrated over her having a car of her own! And it's a black one! Must be really cool. (:

Lyds told me about her job at the primary school she's currently working at, and I must say that I'm so happy that she's found a job she really likes, and, man, she gets to interact and play with little kids EVERYDAY!!!! I wanna do that tooo!!!!! I've always wanted to be a teacher, but I think mum's gonna kill me if I walk down that path right now! =X Thinking of doing teacher relief or working part time at a child care centre when I go back to Singapore at the end of this year, but I don't know where to start from! Any clues, anyone?

Walked Lyds to the bus stop and while strolling back to Med library, I attempted to press the traffic button thingy before the light turned red, but was beaten by a tall and built man. He smiled to me and said, "Got it!". But to our dismay, both of us were too slow, so the green man didn't appear. He laughed and said, "Oh well, we tried our best!" I just laughed with him as we both crossed the roads together. I can see that I really like the Kiwi culture - everyone being so casual and friendly. Cashiers at the supermarket, strangers on the roads, little kids at the mall just naturally start a conversation with me. It's a nice feeling, I must say. Of course, there may be situations which I simply can't imagine being in (like a drunkard throwing a glass bottle towards me at night!), but I must admit that it is not surprising that I would stay in NZ to pursure my career.

Singapore is still my home, but I don't know if I will start comparing both NZ and SG and start complaining about the SG culture, espeically after being here for almost 4 years. What does the future holds for me? I don't know myself, but we'll wait and see. (:

ACJC!

Just joined the currently most happening friends network - Facebook! No, I really hope I won't get addicted to it like what everyone says...

Anyway, I just joined the ACJC group, and saw the description of ACJC. It actually placed a smile on my face! Those days.. Lol.. The super slack days in AC.. Fun man. I won't put the entire description here, but will pick some.. Those that does apply to me.. ENJOY GUYS, especially those from ACJC! LOL.

You know you're from ACJC when..

- You have the hottest guys/girls in town

- Almost half of your friends speak Chinese worse than AngMoh

- Your pants is hanging on to your butt like it's holding on to dear life

- Your skirt is a mini-skirt... Plus your shirt is never tucked in but you pretend it is

- It takes you 18 years to realize the majority listen to Chinese music

- You start running out of class once your friends start singing "Happy Birthday", then you find yourself in the pool naked after they catch you

- When other people give you funny looks when you say the coolest place is the void deck.

- You call the stands, the bleachers.

- I can ask you if she's really the RJC prom queen and you know exactly who I'm talking about

- When you rejoice and jump up and down in LT4 after receiving a C6 for Chinese, shouting "thank you Lord!" and see people running towards you with congratulatory hugs

- You know that "mass pe" is just a cover for "mass suicide".

- When you think a 4-minute cab ride to Holland Village is perfectly acceptable and commonly practised!

- You have climbed down the side of the school near the canteen, through the fence behind the tennis courts or conned the guard with fake mc 'cause you're late

- You just can't stop drinking Milo!

(:(:(:
